Year Up’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by providing low-income young adults with the skills, experience, and support to empower them to reach their potential through professional careers
and higher education.
Year Up achieves this mission through a high support, high expectation model that combines marketable job skills, stipends, internships, and college credits. Our approach focuses on students’ professional and personal development, placing young adults on a viable path to economic self-sufficiency, including marketable job skills in the IT field.
Year Up is helping to train the next generation of IT professionals. Current internship partners include
companies such as AOL, Microsoft, Freddie Mac, Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, Washington Gas, and others. Most recently, Year Up NCR placed interns at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, our first interns in the federal government.
