Marcus Sachs - NERCMarcus (Marc) Sachs joined NERC in May 2015 as the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer. He is primarily responsible for the oversight of the Electricity Sector Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ES-ISAC), and leads day-to-day coordination with government agencies and stakeholders for response and dissemination of critical information regarding security threats and events. Mr. Sachs is a retired US Army officer, was a White House appointee in the George W. Bush administration, and prior to joining NERC was Verizon’s Vice President for National Security Policy. He was also the director of the SANS Internet Storm Center and has co-authored several books on information security.

A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, he holds advanced degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, James Madison University, the US Army Command and General Staff College, and has partially completed a Ph.D from George Mason University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and holds an Advanced Class Amateur Radio license.
